Moves 4th September 2013

Beginner moves:

FIRST MOVE

OCTOPUS

STEP ACROSS

Tips when doing these moves.

When doing the First Move, men step back on their left foot as they turn the lady out. Try not to raise your left hand too high above the ladies head as you turn and return her, about an inch above her head is about right.

The Octopus involves men changing places with the lady as she or he turns. Turn the lady, turn the man, turn the lady.

When doing the Step Across, men turn 1/2 turn ACW as they step under their left arm.

Intermediate moves:

FIRST MOVE ROCKSTEPS, THROW OUT & WALK

OCTOPUS CATAPULT

ALMOST MANSPIN

Tips when doing these moves

During the First Move Rocksteps, Throw Out & Walk, the move starts as for a First Moves the men are then leading the lady from their right arm, turning 1/2 turn CW stepping left, right, then back on the left foot to open First Move position. This gets repeated. The man then use their right hand to throw the lady out in front of him as he steps forward onto his left foot, making her step back on her right foot. The man then draws the lady towards him twisting her very gently left, right as she steps forward right, left. Men then block the lady to send her back and finish the move with a travelling return.

The Octopus Catapult involves the man stepping forward slightly to the left hand side as he raises both hands and changes places with the lady as he turns 1/2 turn ACW. Staying in close the man turns the lady a full turn CW with both hands, then still in close, turns 1/2 turn ACW so that his back is to her as he crosses his arms and places them on his shoulders. The moves finishes with a catapult.

Almost manspin is signalled as for a beginner manspin but the man steps forward without turning taking his right hand over   his left hand, keeping the left hand at waist height. The man then turns 1/2 turn CW as his pushes forward with his hand at waist height to make the lady change place and step back. The move finishes with a step across.

We really hope you enjoyed last weeks moves. Ask for help next week if you wish to recap them.
