Moves 19th June 2013

Beginner moves:

NECKBREAK

CHANGE BEHIND

SIDE TO SIDE

Tips when doing these moves.

Men should take care with the Neckbreak.  After wrapping the lady in ready to whisk the lady around for the 11/2 turns CW, he should make sure that he lets the lady come fully to face them before he raises his LH to turn the lady for a second turn. If he does not do this he is likely to lift his hand too soon and will therefore hurt the ladies shoulder.

Change Behind involves men changing the ladies hand into their left hand as they turn a half turn ACW. Keep the hand low in your back as you change the hand so not to hurt your arm.

Men make sure that you keep your left hand low as you do the Side to side and always make sure you face your partner as you step back as it confuses the lady when you try to take your hand through having stepped back sideways on to her.

Intermediate moves:

MAYPOLE

SIDE TO SIDE SHIMMY

FIRST MOVE DIP

Tips when doing these moves

The Maypole involves the man doing a two handed travelling return as he changes places with the lady.  He then raises his  right hand to turn the lady CW as he allows his left hand to slide up to the ladies shoulder. A flat hand then pushes down for the man to turn the lady two whole turns ACW to face.

Just have fun with the Side to Side Shimmy! Men make sure that you run your hand along the ladies back so that she knows which hand you want her to catch with.

For the First Move Dip, men stand up straight as they step to the LHS to dip the lady, holding the lady close as they do so. Ladies never go into the dip unless the  man takes you into it. Men must also make sure that they place the ladies arm around their waist to secure her for the dip.  Ladies step bac on your right foot and make sure that you bend that knee only and support your own weight.

We really hope you enjoyed last weeks moves. Ask for help next week if you wish to recap them.
