Moves 10th July 2013

Beginner moves:

ARMJIVE

OCTOPUS

WURLITZER

Tips when doing these moves.

Men keep your hands at waist height to twist from side to side during the Armjive.

When doing the Octopus, men turn the lady, then them selves, then the lady again. Always try to look at you partner as you do the moves as this lets you know where your partner is at all times

Men make sure when doing the Wurlitzer that you face the lady as you step in to prepare the lady for the spin, also facing her as you push forward and down to turn the lady a quarter turn away from you. Always throw your hand across as waist height to spin the lady.

Intermediate moves:

ARMJIVE AROUND THE WORLD

OCTOPUS ROTATING MAN & EGG BEATER

WURLITZER TURN, CHANGE HANDS & SPIN

Tips when doing these moves

When doing the Armjive Around the World, make sure that you both relax both arms as you change places back to back so not to hurt the shoulders.

During the Octopus Rotating Man & Egg Beater, the man should first turn the lady, then he wraps in ACW and releases his left hand, as he turns ACW a full turn, changing the ladies left hand into his left hand. Ladies should stay in close and wait as the man turns. On the next beat the man raises his left hand to turn the lady a full turn CW and offers his right hand under his left hand. Dancers should now face each other as the man combs his right hand over his head and also combs his left hand over the ladies head. The next beat sees the man letting go with both hands to step back and catch.

Perform a normal Wurlitzer up to beat 3 for the Wurlitzer Turn, Change Hands & Spin. Beat 4 the man holds on with his right hand as he turns the lady about 3/4 of a turn ACW. As she comes around the man pulls down with his right hands as he turns himself 1/2 turn ACW and changes the ladies right hand to his left hand to block her behind him. He finally turns 1/2 turn ACW as he throws his left hand towards his left ato spin the lady CW. Return the lady and step back to finish.
